Stewardship Council

Purpose
The Our Lady of Perpetual Help Stewardship Council is to exemplify, promote, inform, and educate parishioners to become great stewards of the Catholic Church. A great steward is a baptized member of the Catholic Church who receives God’s gifts gratefully, cultivates them responsibly, shares them lovingly, and returns them with increase to the Lord. 
 
Responsibilities
All members of the Stewardship Council must: 
  1. Participate in monthly meeting of the Stewardship Council (September – June)
  2. Participate in the annual Diocesan-wide Stewardship Workshops held off campus. 
  3. Rotate the responsibilities of the CDA chairperson annually. All members assist the CDA chairperson with the planning, execution and follow-up of the CDA campaign.
  4. Plan, execute, and evaluate any and all stewardship efforts of the parish. 
  5. Oversee the annual Parish Ministry Fair. Collaborate with the various parish ministries insuring each ministry is prepared for the annual ministry fair. 
  6. Contribute to the Stewardship articles to be published on the website and bulletin. 
  7. Assist in the planning of the monthly “4 minute talks” regarding seasonal themes. 
  8. Participate in one OLPH Council meeting to report on Stewardship goals, objectives, action plans, and evaluations of parish efforts regarding stewardship. 

Specific Functions of the Stewardship and Development Council Members

  • Pastor is to listen to the advice of the Council.
  • Chairperson is to oversee all activities of the Council.  The Chair also represents the Council on the Parent Advisory Board.
  • Co-Chair is to take over the chairmanship when the current chair retires.
  • Secretary is to keep all records of the Council’s activities and assist the chair in preparing reports or other necessary correspondences of the Council.
  • Stewardship Education Chair is to be responsible for the regular annual stewardship educational efforts of the community.  He or she would oversee the Stewardship Education Sub-Committee.
  • Fundraising and Special Events Chair is to coordinate and oversee fundraising events and activities in the community.  
  • Planned Giving / Endowment Chair is to coordinate the planned giving opportunities in the parish and the endowment fund that is usually supported with such gifts. 
  • Capital Campaign (Debt Reduction) Chair is to oversee the parish capital campaign, if the parish is in any stage – feasibility, direct campaign, or follow-up – of a capital campaign.
  • CDA Chair is to coordinate the annual Charity and Development Appeal.
  • Communications / Publicity Co-Chair is to assist with all stewardship and development communications and publicity.  This person oversees the stewardship newsletter, stewardship brochure, annual stewardship report, publicity and marketing efforts, website information on giving, and/or other communication activities.
  • Donor Appreciation Chair is to plan and coordinate donor appreciation activities.
