Hands of Hope

Reaching out to the Homeless with Love and Support

Have you ever wanted to help people who stand on the street needing assistance and not give them cash?

We have a project that can help.

How can I participate:

  •  Please bring in any of the items that are listed below to the church on Sunday, or please drop them off in the Parish Office.  They will be put into bags for the homeless. Bags can be picked up in the vestibule.  Put them in your car and when you see someone on the street asking for help you give them a bag filled with things they can use.

Water (16.9oz)

New Socks, T-Shirts

Toothbrushes, Toothpaste

Chapstick (the "Chapstick" brand will not melt in the summer heat)

Granola Bars, Nuts, Dried Fruit, Beef Jerky

Travel Size Soap, Hand Sanitizer

Travel Size Shampoo, Lotion, Kleenex

$5.00 Gift Cards to McDonald's, Subway, Arby's

Here are some notes we received from participants:

"I have been distributing the packages for the past few months.  The following are some of the comments I have received: Distributed bag to client at the Scottsdale Park. 'Thank you for the package, I like seeing the snack in the package.' Another individual in the park did not need the bag but suggested I give it to another individual in the park who needed it more than she did. Distributed a bag to a elderly lady client on the street in Phoenix.  She was most gracious and appreciative and liked the water container. Distributed package to a street walker with a homeless sign.  He indicated he was most surprised."

"I am so grateful to be able to help my homeless friend who can be seen at Walgreen's on McDowell. He always gives me a big smile along with a heartfelt thank you. I even carry one in the car for my husband to give out to any homeless persons around his job site. God is good. All the time. So thankful to be able to help."

If you have a story to share please send it to srmaryelizabeth@olphaz.org

Join us in this project to help our brothers and sisters in need.
